2. Workshop “Application knowledge compact”

This is what it's all about:

The methods and procedures in the recruiting process are changing due to the use of the Internet and new media - but one thing always remains the same:

as an applicant, you must be able to describe to the employer in a brief and addressee-oriented way that you are the right person for the job.

Traditional “paper applications” (cover letter, CV and documents) are still common in many places, but the majority of employers today use online application portals (these online procedures have also arrived in the scientific field).

In the workshop on “Applying for a job”, we therefore cover all aspects. Participants will learn how to put their personal profile into words in a convincing and addressee-oriented way and, on this basis, create a cover letter and an informative CV - with specific reference to a job advertisement or (in the case of unsolicited applications) with reference to a field of work and an employer.

The focus is on the application situation of women, who in some fields of work have to assert themselves against strong male competition and can choose specific ways of presenting themselves.

Content points in detail:

  • “Applying on your own initiative” means taking the initiative - and not just sending anything anywhere
  • Traditional application: Cover letter, CV and documents for the application by paper post - with reference to job advertisements or on your own initiative
  • Apply by e-mail: Application documents for the application by email - with reference to job advertisements or on your own initiative
  • Using online portals: optimal profile presentation and effective use of online application portals - speculative and job-related ChatGPT: what are the benefits?
  • Using AI tools: AI for CVs
  • Professional profile in social media as an application strategy
  • Specifics in the public service/public sector
  • Job search online

Objectives:

After the workshop

  • the participants will be able to design their personal application documents in a target group and task-oriented manner in any application context
  • be able to enter the active application phase using all current application channels (online form, email, paper mail)
  • can use AI tools (for cover letters and CVs) in an appropriate manner
  • find their way through the abundance of job platforms and find the platforms that offer the most jobs for their professional goals
  • participants can adapt their own online presence (social media) for application purposes

Methods:

The participants work through all the steps in the application process on the basis of job advertisements that match their profile and receive feedback on their work.

Maximum number of participants: 15 people
