FÖRDERPREIS for final and qualification theses with a gender focus
Joint call by the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, Health and Equality of Saxony-Anhalt and the Coordination Office for Gender Research & Equal Opportunities Saxony-Anhalt.
Objective
The prize contributes to the appreciation and visualization of scientific and artistic/design work with a gender perspective. It thus pursues the goal of promoting the next generation of scientists, artists and designers as well as the interdisciplinary establishment and implementation of gender studies in Saxony-Anhalt. The prize is awarded for outstanding theses (habilitations and dissertations, state examination theses, Master's theses and Bachelor's theses), scientific publications and artistic and design works that incorporate a gender perspective and deal with it to an appropriate extent. The prize is explicitly aimed at works from all disciplines.
Prerequisites:
Young academics, artists and designers from all disciplines who have completed their work - which can also be interdisciplinary - with a gender perspective at a university in Saxony-Anhalt are eligible to apply. Other academic publications with a gender perspective by graduates of a university in Saxony-Anhalt are also eligible to apply. The work must have been completed between April 1, 2023 and March 31, 2025.
For the year 2025, the following awards will be granted:
- For doctoral dissertations/postdoctoral theses: up to €1,500
- For master’s theses and state examination papers: up to €1,000
- For artistic/design-oriented works: up to €1,000
- For bachelor’s theses and other academic publications: up to €500
The jury reserves the right to adjust the distribution of the awards or issue honorable mentions. Legal recourse is excluded.
Application documents (to be submitted as a single PDF in the following order):
- Curriculum Vitae
- Proof of academic achievements (copy of degree certificate; for doctoral work: copy of doctoral diploma)
- Abstract including a brief description of the gender focus of the work (max. 5,000 characters)
- Final thesis, qualification paper, or academic publication (e.g., article, book chapter, etc.)
- For theses and qualification papers: copies of the first and second examiner reviews
- For other academic publications or artistic works: an expert review from a university lecturer at a university or university of applied sciences in Saxony-Anhalt (copy)

The award ceremony is expected to take place during the 14th Statewide Gender Research Day on November 20, 2025 in Halle (Saale).
